I learned that it's actually better to send mail to ACLAS instead of to my home. The folks at ACLAS go to the post office every day, and they have a special set up so they don't pay extra money to pull things out of customs. Also, IF (IFF) one sends packages, it's important to write on the package that it has no commercial value, and is a gift. Otherwise, they'll hold it in customs and it's tough/more expensive to receive. Letters and postcards are taking about 8-10 days to get here, and I think they take about the same amount of time to get to the US.
