All last week there was live jazz for FREE in the cultural center. Anyel and I went to a show Thursday night with la Banda Sinfónica Metrpolitana y la Brass Band. They played lots of standards, like Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, and also some fun swing tunes from the 90s. We ran into some of Anyel's host brother's friends and ended up talking with them for quite a while. None of them attend USFQ, but are all about our age and very friendly. One young woman, Michel, spent a year on the east coast of the US traveling around and practicing English, and she is definitely very sensitive to the needs of non-native speakers. She was excited to hear about what we'd been learning and thinking about Ecuador, and she had a lot of good advice about where to go. She mentioned getting together this weekend, so I hope it happens!
Roman met us at the jazz concert as well, but he's starting to get on my nerves. He called about 15 times in two days, and acted very posessive when we were with other people. I am no man's woman! Ciao, señor.
