Willamette does Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. day a little differently. Instead of a day off, we use the week to celebrate, educate, and reflect on ourselves and our communities. Panelists, speakers, videos, service projects, and a pledge ask us to pause long enough to evaluate what we are doing in our daily lives, and how we are affecting and affected by others. Etcetera. It's a packed week, but I wanted to share a particularly inspiring experience.
Mark Gonzalez, an amazing spoken word artist, journalist, activist, organizer (...) visited Willamette on Wednesday. He dropped intersectional knowledge like I've never seen in textbooks or heard in politics. Dang. Here's a performance of "As With Most Men." Imagine it live!
